Complete all profile questions and essays
Leaving blank fields will keep people guessing and keep them from contacting you. Make it easier for them to like the real you by answering all questions honestly! The quality of your headline and essays will have the greatest effect on your chances for success. If you don’t take the time to write a few paragraphs about yourself, then no one will take the time to write to you. People will consider yours a garbage profile that someone just created to be able to browse.
Join special interest groups
Special interest groups allow you to customize the questions in your profile to your interests. They include: Bikers, Christian, 2nd Time Around, Travelers, Sports Fans and more!
Post a few photos
Multiple photos will give people a more accurate idea of your appearance. We suggest using a combination of close up and full body photos. Take the time to post quality photos! Make sure they clearly show what you look like and that the part of the photo with you in it is not too dark, small, or blurry. Most people will NOT send a message to someone without a photo, because there are so many profiles that do have photos. People what to see whom they are contacting.
Today, most photo labs will sell you copies of your photos on a CD when you are developing a roll of film. So get you hair done, don a new outfit, and grab a friend! Have them take some photos of you with a disposable camera against a variety of backgrounds. Use the best ones for your profile rather then one you might already have with the cropped off prom date or ex!
Send quality messages
Don’t be afraid to send messages even though the words are sometimes difficult to find – use introductions like “Hello, I saw your picture. I really think you are cute or pretty. I am interested in what you said about… or this … aspect of your profile.”
People will not always respond to your messages. This is normal, unfortunately. While we ask all members to give a short reply back, even if just to say that they are not interested, most people are not this courteous.
We have recently introduced Galleries! People with pictures are sorted into different categories, such as Today’s Birthdays or new members. It’s a great way to get a conversation going!
Meeting
You should always be cautious when first meeting in person with someone you met online. A public place would be best, and of course you should tell a friend or family member where you will be going, whom you will be meeting, and when you should return.
Breaking it off
If you meet for the first time and it just doesn’t seem like it will work, be honest and tell the other person. Don’t leave people thinking that you will call them again if you do not plan too. There are many success stories for online personals, but like anything it usually takes a few tries.
